Remote Web Desktop Makes The LG Optimus V a Webcam and More!

remotewebdesktopRemote Web Desktop

Remote Web Desktop is a free app (there is a paid version upgrade for less than $4) that works on the LG Optimus V through Wi-Fi. I have not tried it on the Motorola Triumph, but it probably also works just as well.

Once connected to Wi-Fi, you start a server on your phone, and you type in the IP:PORT address it tells you to in to Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or any other web browser.

Use The LG Optimus V as a Webcam – What!

The IP:Port address given you will take you to a desktop environment inside of your desktop web browser where you can do ALOT of cool things:

  • Send SMS messages in a chat-like environment
  • View all the files on your sdcard, add files to the sd card from the local PC, and edit files through the File Explorer. There is also an FTP explorer option as well.
  • Share a clipboard between your PC and your phone. In other words, you can enter text in to a box in your desktop web browser, and then you can go in to your phone and paste it in to wherever.
  • Use the Wi-Fi Keyboard feature to use your full size keyboard on your phone.
  • Tripped Out Feature Here!! Use your phone as a webcam! All you do is click the button “Webcam” on the browser desktop and within seconds, wherever your phone’s camera is pointed, you will see the live camera feed in the browser.
  • View, edit, and add contacts on your phone through the web browser desktop program.
  • You can even set the wallpaper from local computer photos or from an online URL.
  • If you have a rooted phone, you can use the “Remote Control” features and the screenshot feature
