Do Not Forget to Get Watchdog Task Manager for Your LG Optimus V

Save $80 on the Motorola Triumph Android Phone at Virgin Mobile!

Watchdog runs with the idea that managing apps is better than killing them, especially in Android 2.2 Froyo and forward – aka, what your LG Optimus V is.

I use it personally, and I have for a long time. With Froyo, if you kill the tasks, they will start again, which means that an enormous amount of your phone’s energy will be dedicated to killing and restarting the same tasks over and over again.

Windows has trained us to open the task manager and kill things, but Android is not Windows – It is Linux. You do not need to kill things in Linux, as it is much more normal for many things to stick around (but not use hardly any resources if any).

What you really want to know more than what is running is how much CPU and memory is the task sucking – Watchdog allows you to set warning level thresholds like say 40% (default). If any app starts using more than 40%, Watchdog will notify you and let you decide what to do about it.

If you do not get to Amazon today to get the premium version for free, the lite version works great as well.

Pick it up today for your LG Optimus V – You will use it, I promise.
