Netflix Will Now Work On LG Optimus V Without Root
Save $80 on the Motorola Triumph Android Phone at Virgin Mobile!UPDATED – Check out the updated Netflix for LG Optimus V & Motorola Triumph Post
Breaking news folks!!
Netflix removed from its latest update the part of its app that checks for a ‘compatible device’ and since it does not require flash to work (go Netflix!), LG Optimus V users can install and watch Netflix even over 3G. I just did it myself! I am so freak’n giddy right now, I cannot even tell you! I’m sure you are too!
Things to keep in mind:
- Netflix is a large app – It will take up about 17mb of space if you move it to SD and about 21mb if you do not move it.
- Streaming over 3G is a pretty crappy picture, which means I recommend wireless.
- Battery drain I will report on later
- I have not extensively tested this – so bugs and glitches may occur, but the app runs and I have successfully streamed King of the Hill.
Get the APK!
XDA Developers forum posted an update on the Netflix APK today, and you can grab the Netflix app that will work with your LG Optimus V by clicking this link:
Please leave a comment and let us all know how this works for you and have a blast!
Check out the LGOptimusVGuy’s Review of the Netflix App!

I am not a technical guru. Downloaded link on LG Optimus V and it said it as unsuccessful because "the content is not supported on this phone."
I used Dolphin HD browser to download the APK (the program file) – maybe its your browser….
Ah, I think I know – I just went through the steps one more time, and perhaps where you are running in to problems is trying to open the APK from the browser (any browser) because it does not know what to open the file with (aka 'not supported'). You need to navigate to the file through a file manager – I personally like 'Bluetooth File Transfer' because it rocks at bluetooth and has great file managing abilities. Navigate to the folder 'download' and from there look for the Netflix apk you downloaded.
Dana can i get your email I'm not comp savy and I need step by step instructions.
Yhanks!
Installed it and it works. Quality is 75%, but it works. Thanks!!
I tried everything I can't get it to work got the app not from the market cause it said my phone wasn't compatible. So I got thw app opened it up it said there was an update so I hit ok then it said it couldn't be found. I tried to play a video and it said it wasn't supported I do have the optumus v
Watching Ladyhawk right meow, thanks man!
AWESOME!! Took me a couple of trys but I got it.
Thank You So Much, YOU ROCK!
AHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DDDD worked okay to sort of help people like me that aren';t that tech savvy 1st download a file manager look it up in the market 2nd Download the app from this site 3. witithin the file manager move it to your sd and then 4th select allow non-market app installations etc. 5th press the APk netflix file and wait a little and it'll do it !!! !
you guys rule!
I got it to work, but everything is playing really fast. Every movie is now a sequel to the Chipmunks. Anyone know of a fix for that?
interesting…..I'll let you know if I find anything on that.
Netflix is now working ALMOST perfectly for me (on my Optimus V). But the color-encoding is a bit messed up. It looks like red and blue appear to be shifted down by about 20 pixels leaving a green band at the top of the screen. It's still watchable, though. And let's face it, if I want great picture quality then I shouldn't be watching on a 3-inch screen.
Lets see here I'm hoping for the best doing this ha if I'm pleased I sure will pass it on to others .as for me I do have the optimistic v it is a great phone .thanks to whom ever and the hard work an oto netflex July 11th 2012 2:40 am
Its cool to have something like this for my phone (which just happens to be incompatible with just about anything awesome), but there's a green bar on the top of videos, and everyone does sound like Alvin. I have an Optimus T though…
Interesting. It works great for me with the sound, but the green bar is there. The Green bar is there for most people, I guess. The sound seems to be mostly good for most people, but there is some hit/miss.
I tried this and at first it worked and I even watched a movie but after the movie I closed the app for a few minutes and now for the past few hours it says no network connection or temporarily unavailable. I have tried re installing but it still will not work! Other websites who give solutions are all so complicated and I just got this phone so I dont know everything about it. Can someone please help?
Do you have a network connection if you open a web browser? If so, then its the app. If not, then it is your network conenction which can be reset by turning Airplane mode on, waiting for the plane to show up, and then turning it off.
Try WiFi if available also.
Awesome app!!!! I could not believe myself that it's only through this website that I'll find this most sought Netflix app. It works with my rooted LG Optimus V. The only thing I would say negative about it, is that the there is a green line above the screen and the video looks greenish, sound is awesome though. Anyway, why complain when this app is free. Huh, now I can go anywhere with movies while waiting in line for any appointments! Good job!
how do you put it on the lg optimus v?
Used dolphin to download and worked great, not updating it when it asks as that usually kills a good app. Works as well it does on moto droid 1.
Yah, it won't let you update it either because it doesn't technically exist on the Android Market for this phone. There is a recent APK out, but I have not been able to get out there and test them yet to recommend one here.
Hopefully, I can get to that soon.
its not working as soon as i open it it tells me that there is a new versoin and it tells me to download it but i push cancle and it just stays ther loading what do i do?
I had mine on Wi-Fi the first time I started it – maybe try that? At the end of the XDA thread, there are some more recent APK downloads – I just have not personally tested them yet – maybe give them a shot if you can't hook in to WiFi or if that does not work.
This is sweet! I watched a movie over 3G while at the gym. And I'm embarrassed to say I've watched short stints of movies on the couch just because I was too lazy to get up and turn on the Wii to watch on the TV.
question: There was a recent update on the netflix file will that updated APK be uploaded here? or will we have to stick with the APK we already downlaoded
great question – I have not been able to test the new ones to recommend them as absolute winners yet – If you want to test them, please feel free and let me know which ones work best. I am planning on trying to do this sometime in the next few days, but I've had some family things come up that I had to attend to.
clicked on the link to get the netflix app and it didnt work. help please..
At the top of this post is a link to the updated article – on that article, there is a link to the most recent APK — http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?at… Good Luck!
