Superbox and Quicksettings no longer work on the latest models of the LG Optimus V. However, my readers have pointed out that FoxFi does work.

Making your LG Optimus V a mobile wireless hotspot is easy. All you have to do is just turn it on — What complicates this is that Virgin Mobile has hidden the menu by default.

Thankfully, there is a very easy workaround for this problem. We just need a settings switching application like SuperBox [Recommended] or QuickSettings.

Simply install one of these apps, and navigate to the section that has the Wi-Fi Hotspot Toggle switch. In SuperBox (which I highly recommend), the menu is in the settings portion of the app’s tools. The image on the right shows what that settings menu will look like.

You can see that the Wi-Fi hotspot has an on/off button. You will press that button, and then if you want to configure the name of your network and network password (if you want one), you have to press on the area where the words Wi-Fi hotspot are located to get to that menu.

At this point, you should be able to find the wireless hotspot through the discovery feature of your other devices — ipod touch, pc, xbox 360, ps3, netbook, etc. If you set a password, you will have to type that in as well. The speeds are good for surfing, but not good for streaming video or heavy flash content. Remember its just 3G.

Enjoy!
